MJOLNIR OPENS TOMORROW

MJOLNIR OPENS TOMORROW
Mjolnir reopens

According to a new regulation and announcement from the Ministry of Health, sports activities can begin in organized group classes from Thursday April 15th, where all participants are pre-registered in each class. In these circumstances, the 2-meter rule must be observed, no common equipment must be used and a maximum of 20 people at any one time during the endurance exercise. Sports exercises with and without contact are allowed with number restrictions (see more in Mjölnir's rules below).

With these rules, organized classes in Vikingathrek, Goðaafl and Yoga can begin again with a maximum of 20 people in each room. Changing rooms are open and compartmentalized and we ask those who use them to respect the compartmentalization that is installed in each cabin and depends on the class a member is attending. Information about it is at the entrance to the room. We also ask practitioners to register for a maximum of one hour per day during this number limit.

We ask all those who borrowed equipment (kettlebells and such) to return such if the equipment has not already been returned.

Childcare, hot tub and steam are closed until further notice.

All sports activities, whether within ÍSÍ or not, are allowed with a maximum of 50 people. Classes in Grappling (BJJ), MMA, Boxing and Kickboxing start again, but we remind you of Mjölnir's Rules below. The same applies to exercises for children and adolescents.

As before, there are clear rules that neither practitioners nor employees may enter Mjölnir if they:

a. Are quarantined.

b. Are in isolation (also while waiting for the result of testing).

c. Have been in isolation due to COVID-19 infection and not 14 days have passed since discharge or received two negative tests with at least 5 days apart.

d. Have any symptoms of flu or other illnesses (colds, coughs, fever, headaches, bone pains, fatigue, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc.).

We would like to thank our practitioners, most of whom have remained loyal to Mjölnir during these difficult times. We are fully aware that the situation is difficult in many places and your loyalty allows us to continue operations and as has been stated, Mjölnir will add the time that was closed to the subscriptions of those who kept it active and continue with those courses that were put on hold.

In other words, Mjölnir opens (with restrictions) according to the timetable on Thursday 15 of April. We are really looking forward to seeing you!

We ask everyone to familiarize themselves with the Mjölnir rules on infection control due to COVID-19

Also here are some main rules on training contact sports in Mjölnir at Covid time, ie. Grappling (BJJ), MMA, Kickbox and Boxing:

  • Online pre-registration for all classes except children classes.
  • The number on each class is limited so that it is possible to keep a distance of two meters if members so choose but never over 50 in each room. A table has been prepared over the halls and the number of exercises will be well below the number given for the two-meter minimum.
  • In each exercise, groups are divided into pairs or small groups and members only practice within each group to minimize closeness and proximity.
  • Everyone has their own training equipment (gi, boxing gloves or other traditional sportswear) and drinking bottles. Equipment may not be shared with others.
  • The use of changing rooms must be minimized and limited so that it is possible to keep a distance of two meters in rooms between persons. Members are encouraged to take a shower at home to restrict indoor traffic.
  • Everyone disinfects before training and if they need to change training partners.
  • Only those who have a role in the class should be in the gym hall during the exercise.
  • The two-meter rule exemption for practitioners and coaches only applies in the training area, not outside it.

We would also like to remind our practitioners that certain risks of infection and quarantine are always associated with attending crowds, sports practices and other things, in times like these, regardless of all regulations. We strongly encourage practitioners to keep this in mind before deciding to attend exercises.
